The 14UD accelerator is the largest facility of its kind in Australia. It produces highly energetic beams of ions that are used for a variety of experiments on the physics of the nucleus. The view here is inside the tower, looking at the massive tank that houses the charged column. You can find out more about the physics of the nucleus at the ANU here.
