Virtual tour :The 14UD Ion Source

click your mouse on the image to pan and tilt the view. You can also zoom in with the shift key and zoom out with the control key

This is the ion source of the 14UD particle accelerator. Here various different ions are liberated from the surface of sources and begin their journey through the accelerator. The horizontally travelling ions are bent through 90 degrees by a large magnet so that they enter the main accelerator vertically. You can find out more about the physics of the nucleus at the ANU here.
